Observation of land use change and change detection for certification of sustainable plantings can be analysed using remote sensing data.
Vista’s big data processing chains for remote sensing data can identify:
-
land use: e.g.cropland, settlements, wetlands, forests, grassland
-
land use dynamics over different years
-
seasonal dynamics within one year: e.g. identification of seasonal flooded areas
Example: Change Detection for certification of sustainable plantings
Vista’s crop model PROMET is simulating in a 1 km grid simultaniously the run off in the rivers and biomass as well as yield of plants.
Observation of land-use change
Clearing of plantings can be observed with high timely resolution and data archive reaching from today until the 1980`s. In the case shown above parts of the planting have been cleared in 2005, other parts show constant vegetation over the whole observed time period.
Detailed analysis of critical areas
Critical areas, like in the three images above, that show no clear sign of clearing in the observed time period, can be closer analysed with high resolution images revealing differences of natural vegetation or plantings.
