Vista CEO Dr. Heike Bach joins UNIDO Delegation in Rome to strengthen partnerships for global food security

Rome, 29–30 September 2025 – Vista’s CEO, Dr. Heike Bach, participated in a high-level delegation organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Rome, bringing together representatives from leading companies and institutions to explore private sector solutions for global food security.

The two-day programme included meetings with the Rome-based UN agencies – the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The visit focused on advancing collaboration between the private sector and international organizations in the areas of sustainable agricultural mechanization, food processing and loss reduction, renewable energy, and digital innovation.

At FAO headquarters, the delegation was welcomed by senior representatives of the Partnerships and UN Collaboration Division and several technical divisions, including the Plant Production and Protection Division. Discussions centered on practical pathways to support climate-smart agriculture, innovation, and skills development to improve global food systems.

During the meetings at WFP and IFAD, participants exchanged insights on how private sector expertise and technology can contribute to resilient food value chains, procurement innovation, and sustainable agricultural finance.

Representing Vista GmbH, Dr. Bach contributed perspectives on smart farming and agricultural analytics, emphasizing Vista’s expertise in climate change mitigation and yield assessment technologies. Vista’s participation underlined its commitment to leveraging data-driven solutions for sustainable agricultural transformation.

“Engaging directly with UN agencies allows us to align our technological capabilities with global development priorities,” said Dr. Heike Bach. “By combining innovation, data, and partnerships, we can help make food systems more resilient and sustainable.”

The visit was part of the broader UNIDO initiative, “Private Sector Solutions for Food Security”, coordinated by UNIDO ITPO Germany and UNIDO ITPO Italy. The programme aims to foster cooperation between industry leaders, development partners, and international organizations to accelerate the transition toward sustainable food production worldwide.
