Land Use Change

Observation of land use change and change detection for certification of sustainable plantings can be analysed using remote sensing data.

Vista’s big data processing chains for remote sensing data can identify

  • land use: e.g.cropland, settlements, wetlands, forests, grassland

  • land use dynamics over different years

  • seasonal dynamics within one year: e.g. identification of seasonal flooded areas

Example: Change Detection for certification of sustainable plantings

Observation of land-use change

Clearing of plantings can be observed with high timely resolution and data archive reaching from today until the 1980`s. In the case shown above parts of the planting have been cleared in 2005, other parts show constant vegetation over the whole observed time period.

Detailed analysis of critical areas

Example for 0.5m resolution false colour infrared image and different vegetation that can be distinguished.

Critical areas, like in the three images above, that show no clear sign of clearing in the observed time period, can be closer analysed with high resolution images revealing differences of natural vegetation or plantings.
